When Honda Japan released the 2021 Honda PCX 160 in December last year, many Filipinos were waiting for its arrival. With the growing number of motorcyclists and what seems to be the best solution traffic, Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI), the top motorcycle manufacturer in the country has officially announced the arrival of the all-new PCX 160.
Powering the new PCX 160 is an improved single-cylinder, 4-valves, single overhead camshaft (SOHC) 157cc engine. It has an all-new exhaust system, making it more efficient and responsive. Honda also redesigned its air intake, resulting in better airflow for enhanced performance. Not to mention that it is now powered with esP+ or Enhanced Smart Power Plus ensuring a better engine performance with a 15.82hp@8,500rpm with a classic PCX efficiency 45.1km/l fuel consumption.
The new PCX 160 also ensures its rider the highest safety it could give. It has front and rear disc brakes with two brake variations, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and CBS (Combi-Brake System). Additionally, the PCX 160 also has a newly-developed Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). HSTC detects slip and then limits the engine torque by modulating the fuel injection. The HSTC has three levels of intervention and it can also be disabled. That’s Honda Safety for you.
Known for its elegance and superiority, the new PCX 160 features a new design which makes it stand out even more. The 2021 Honda PCX 160 features new LED headlights and a redesigned frame that gives the new PCX a sportier look. The storage compartment has also been enlarged from an already-generous 28 liters to 30.4 liters. The PCX 160’s wheels have also been enlarged, now featuring 110/70-14 (Front) and 130/70-13 (Rear); a huge difference from its 100/80-14 and 120/70-14. Other features include the smart key system with an anti-theft alarm and answer back system, idling stop system (ISS) which helps in fuel efficiency, and an upgraded USB power outlet for convenient and faster charging.
The all-new Honda PCX 160 ABS variant is priced at P133,900, while the CBS variant is priced at P115,900. It comes in 3 color variants, Pearl Fadeless White, Asteroid Black Metallic (ABS Variant only), and Matte Dim Gray Metallic (CBS Variant only).
“At Honda Philippines, we want to impact the lives of all Filipinos with our motorcycles. We believe The all-new PCX 160 will do just that. After all, what we want is to contribute to the creation of a better, new normal,” HPI President Susumu Mitsuishi said.
The all-new 2021 Honda PCX160 will be available at all Honda dealerships nationwide in May 2021. It is only one of Honda’s vast arrays of motorcycles made to improve every Filipino’s riding experience. It is in line with the company’s “ONE DREAM” campaign, which aims to fulfill every Filipino’s dream through the joy of mobility.
