11th Generation 2022 Honda Civic Leaked Ahead Of Debut

The all-new 11th generation Honda Civic debuted in late 2020 in prototype form. Basically, this is Honda’s terminology for a concept car that will mostly stay unchanged when it goes into production.

And it certainly is faithful to the prototype version. Photos of this white 2022 Honda Civic in production form has been published at Civic11Forum, and it almost looks virtually unchanged from the prototype that debuted in North America. Based on the leaked photos, the Civic that we see here is for the Chinese market based on the car’s badges.

As a whole, the production 2022 Honda Civic looks almost unchanged from the orange prototype version you see above, though we do notice a few changes. Gone are the integrated twin exhaust pipes, now replaced by what seems to be hidden ones tucked under the rear bumper. The production Civic also gains a pair of foglights whereas the prototype version had none. Honda decided to go through an evolutionary approach for this generation of the Civic. After all, the outgoing 10th generation Civic was a design revolution, Honda would not want to completely mess with a winning formula.

However, we do think that the all-new Civic looks less radical and more conventional than before. The roofline is a little bit more upright, and gone are the distinct C-shaped LED taillights, replaced by more conventional-looking units. We’re also getting a lot of Honda Accord vibes, especially with that kink at the lower window line near the C-pillar.

This Chinese Civic also features a 240 Turbo badge at the trunk, which probably denotes its torque figure. If that’s the case, expect the Civic to continue featuring the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo inline-4 gasoline engine that produces 172 hp and 240 Nm of torque. Naturally-aspirated gasoline engines should also carry over unchanged, including the 1.8-liter and the 2.0-liter i-VTEC engines, depending on the market.

No interior photos were posted on the forum, though considering how faithful the production model is to the prototype version, we won’t be surprised if the production model follows the interior sketch that was revealed during the Civic prototype’s unveiling.

The production 2022 Honda Civic is expected to debut in North America in late spring, which means its launch date is just right around the corner.
