2022 Nissan Almera Arriving In PH This October With Turbo Engines

The 2022 Nissan Almera will make its debut soon. The Japanese automaker has begun teasing its latest turbocharged subcompact sedan.

The all-new 2022 Nissan Almera finally has a launch date, and it’s expected to make its Philippine debut this October 8. This comes just a few days after our team member Jerald Valdez was able to spot the all-new Almera at a Nissan dealer.

This is not the first time we’re seeing this vehicle. The all-new Almera has already been released as the Versa in the United States for its 2020 model year. It has also been offered in Thailand for the 2020 model year. Completely redesigned from the ground up, the Almera’s exterior design is completely completely different from its predecessor. From the teasers, we can definitely tell it will be equipped with LED headlights and LED taillights, most likely on the higher variants.

Just like the exterior, the interior has also been completely overhauled. There’s a sportier look with its “Gliding Wing” dashboard that features padded soft surfaces with stitching details. Drivers will be greeted by an instrument cluster with partial digital instrumentation on the left, along with an 8-inch Nissan Connect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and most likely a 360-degree camera as shown in the teasers.

The most important bit, however, is its introduction of a turbocharged engine. While not the first in its segment to do so (that title goes towards the discontinued Ford Fiesta EcoBoost), it is currently the only subcompact sedan right now with such an engine. In this case, it’s a 1.0-liter inline-3 turbo gasoline engine that produces 100 hp and a strong torque figure of 152 Nm. Based on our ASEAN neighbors, the available transmission choices are either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.

Nissan Philippines is already accepting reservations for test drive slots for the 2022 Nissan Almera, which you can visit through this link. With these teasers, it’s safe to say that its local launch could happen sooner rather than later, probably in October.
