The all-new 2022 Ford F-150 has finally arrived in the Philippines in Lariat V6 Diesel form. This was the result of Ford Philippines listening to customers’ demand for the full-size, all-American F-150 to be offered with a diesel engine.
All-new for 2022, the F-150 is built on a fully boxed high-strength steel frame with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body. The Lariat variant we get comes with the Sport Appearance Package, which gets you 20-inch dark alloy wheels, chrome exhaust tips, black grille, front skid plates, Sport bed decal, just to name a few. The exterior design itself is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but all the panels are completely new. The front end, in particular, features a horizontal bar grille that’s flanked by C-shaped LED headlights with cornering bending lights and LED daytime running lights. The sides and rear look similar to the previous model, which should mean that the F-150 will be an instantly recognizable pickup.
Interior changes are even more substantial in the all-new F150. There are more premium materials regardless of variant, along with new interior colors and more storage. Since Ford has confirmed that the variant to be offered will be the Lariat Diesel 4×4, expect features such as a massive 12-inch touch screen that allows customers to split the screen and control multiple functions simultaneously, including navigation, music or truck features, along with a 12-inch fully-digital gauge cluster, Bang & Olufsen sound system, and even a retractable gear lever that creates an area for pickup owners to work on.
Other interior features include power-adjustable front seats with both heating and cooling, panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable steering wheel and pedals, heated rear seats, just to name a few.
As mentioned, the F-150 will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbo V6 Power Stroke diesel engine that produces 250 hp and 595 Nm of torque, driving all four wheels with a rear locking differential via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Ford spent a lot of effort in innovating the F-150’s humble tailgate that we often take for granted. For instance, the tailgate has a a work surface complete with an engraved ruler, both in metric and imperial units, along with a slot to place your smartphone while you work. There are also provisions for clamps if on-site wood cutting is needed. Lastly, Zone Lighting is an innovative feature that lets you control the F-150’s various exterior lighting elements, and this makes it useful for your next camping trip or construction work.
As for safety, the all-new 2022 Ford F-150 comes with Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0, Ford’s most up-to-date safety suite of technologies composed of Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping System (LKS), Auto-High Beam headlamps, Reverse Sensing System, Reverse Brake Assist, and Post-Collision Braking.
Additionally, the all-new F-150 is also equipped with a radar-guided Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering and Speed Sign Recognition and Evasive Steering Assist under Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0. For added convenience, a 360-degree camera is standard and now comes with Active Park Assist 2.0 that works in both parallel and perpendicular parking spots.
