Sojitz G Auto Philippines Corporation (SGAP) has given the Filipino motoring public a preview of the new facelifted 2022 Geely Coolray Sport SE (which means Special Edition). What you’re seeing here is actually the mid-cycle facelift of the Coolray that made its global debut last year, but the updates will only be limited to this new special edition variant.
Upfront, the 2022 Geely Coolray Sport SE features an updated front fascia. This particular variant we see here dons a greyed-out face with an X-shaped motif. Rather than Geely’s “expanding cosmos” grille, the new Coolray features a sportier mesh design. Lastly, the Coolray gets a new set of 18-inch wheels that are painted in black, along with a new double-deck rear spoiler, which Geely says improves the subcompact crossover SUV’s aerodynamics.
Just like the other current model, the 2022 Geely Coolray Sport SE is still powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque. This is all sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. Moreover, the Coolray’s class-leading features like the remote start, tire pressure monitoring and auto parking assist system, 360-degree camera, and blind spot detection system, among others can still be found in this newest Coolray model.
The Coolray Sport SE has also retained the specifications like ventilated seats, a power tailgate with height memory function, which were also found in the previous Limited version. As for its overall interior design, it carries over pretty much unchanged, which means you can still expect a well-built interior with premium materials.
The 2022 Geely Coolray Sport SE will go on sale in the latter part of this year, with pricing and availability to be announced soon. For the meantime, you can see the new Coolray for yourself at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show, which runs from today until April 10, 2022.
