The facelifted 2023 Nissan Leaf has arrived in the Philippines with an upgraded design and the same price tag as before. The electric hatchback made its local debut at the recent Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit that was held last October 20-21.
The aesthetic updates are quite minor, and these are limited to a redesigned front grille with a black patterned plastic panel instead of the pre-facelift model’s blue-tinted grille, a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels that are finished predominantly in black, along with the addition of Nissan’s newest logo design. Actually, that’s pretty much it in terms of exterior changes since the rest of the vehicle carries over unchanged.
Moving inside the Leaf, the changes are limited to the new Nissan logo. The materials and panels are all carried over, including its 8-inch Nissan Connect infotainment that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 7-inch partly-digital gauge cluster.
The 2023 Nissan Leaf that’s sold in the Philippines still comes with a 40 kWh battery, which is smaller than the 62 kWh pack that’s offered as an option elsewhere. The smaller battery comes with a front-wheel drive electric motor that produces 148 hp and 320 Nm of torque, and this configuration provides the Leaf a range of up to 311 km. An optional AC wall box charger juices up the Leaf from low to full in 7.5 hours, while select Nissan dealerships are able to fully charge the Leaf in 40 minutes.
As with most Nissan vehicles nowadays, the Leaf comes with the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of advanced driver-assistance tech, which includes Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Trace Control, Intelligent Around View Monitor, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Intelligent Driver Alertness.
