Lexus PH Sold 1,843 Units In 2023, Led By RX Midsize Luxury SUV

Lexus Philippines is now the most popular luxury car brand in the Philippines, and its sales have been led by the RX midsize luxury SUV.

Along with the growth and continued dominance of Toyota Motor Philippines, its luxury brand Lexus also managed to exceed expectations in 2023. The brand managed to sell 1,843 luxury cars in 2023, which means that Lexus is now the leading luxury brand in the country. As a result, Lexus Philippines now captures 42 percent of the country’s luxury car segment.

2023 Lexus RX 500h F Sport Performance Philippines

But what model has led the luxury brand to sell nearly 2,000 vehicles in the Philippines? That would be the RX midsize luxury SUV with 431 units sold. Launched in early 2023 with a base price of P5,158,000, the RX lineup in the Philippines consists purely of hybrids. The RX 350h uses the 2.5-liter four-cylinder mated together with electric motors, which has a total output of 246 hp and 316 Nm of torque and a 0-100 km/h time of just 7.9 seconds.

For the first time, however, the RX comes with a performance-oriented RX 500h F Sport Performance. This performance hybrid blends a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a rear eAxle and a high-output electric motor. This is called their Direct4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system. It’s a parallel hybrid system as opposed to the series-parallel system found in the RX 350h, and this setup gives the RX 500h F Sport Performance a total output of 367 hp and 550 Nm of torque. This is the fastest Lexus RX to date, as it can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 6.2 seconds. It also uses a performance-oriented six-speed automatic instead of the e-CVT found in the RX 350h.

2024 Lexus LM

Second on the list is the Lexus LM, which shares a lot of fundamentals with the Alphard. Like the RX, the LM is also completely new for this year, and it ditches V6 propulsion in favor of a hybrid electric drivetrain as well. The LM 350h on sale in the Philippines uses a similar hybrid drivetrain as the RX 350h, which means it likewise uses a 2.5-liter gasoline engine paired with electric motors. Similarly, its power output is 246 horses and 316 Nm through an e-CVT.

Just like before, the LM can be had with the standard seven-seater layout or the extremely opulent four-seater layout. The former retails for P7,578,000, while the four-seater version costs a whopping P11,808,000. The LM managed to sell 390 units in 2023, making it the brand’s second-best-selling model. This 390-unit sales figure most likely combines both the outgoing and the new generation LM, which made its global debut in April 2023, while its Philippine launch happened near the end of 2023.

Unsurprisingly, reflecting Filipino’s preferences towards SUVs and MPVs, Lexus Philippines sold more vehicles classified as commercial vehicles (CV) than passenger cars (PC). Interestingly, only two units each of the Lexus RC and its performance counterpart, the V8-powered RC F were sold in 2023. The much more expensive and convertible version of the LC even outsold both RC models combined. Finally, representing Lexus’ first foray into the electric vehicle (EV) segment, the RZ managed to sell 79 units last year.

Here’s a breakdown of each model that Lexus Philippines managed to sell in 2023. So, did you buy a brand-new Lexus in 2023 and help contribute to the brand’s success?
