2024 Mitsubishi Triton Now In PH, Priced From P1.134M

The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton has finally been launched in the Philippines, completely redesigned from the ground up to match its new name.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has officially launched the all-new Triton after being previewed in the Philippines through the brand’s social media platforms last October. Ditching the Strada name, the new Triton is completely new from the ground up, featuring a new design, more cutting-edge tech, and improved driving dynamics.

For starters, there’s the Triton’s design. The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton comes in two different faces—the standard model as well as the Athlete.

The standard model, which you see here in this GLS 2WD in our photos, comes with a gloss black grille that’s surrounded by chrome trim, along with gunmetal 18-inch wheels, a sports bar, and LED taillights. On the other hand, the range-topping Athlete comes with a body-colored grille, gloss black accents, and black fender flares, all of which are absent in the non-Athlete models. This is complemented by black 18-inch wheels and an integrated sports bar at the bed.

The lower-spec GLX and GL, however, make do with halogen headlights and taillights, remote keyless entry, though the fleet-oriented GL comes with steel wheels.

As for the interior, it’s also likewise completely new from the ground up. GLS and Athlete models are dressed to impress with soft-touch materials on the dash and doors, tilt and telescoping steering, a 7-inch color multi-information display, a large 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, smart entry with push-button start, while the range-topping Athlete gets a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, black and orange synthetic leather upholstery, and rear aircon vents.

Thanks to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, this is where you’ll notice that its electronics are shared with a Nissan. It’s no bad thing, mind you since the graphics are sharp and the information is well presented. Even in the lower spec GLX, the interior tech features are still generous as it’s equipped with a slightly smaller 8-inch infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the same 7-inch color multi-information display. The base GLX comes with a simpler integrated radio along with a monochrome 3.5-inch multi-information display.

Two engine choices are available, both of which are 2.4-liter MIVEC diesel engines that–while mechanically similar to before, did come with numerous improvements for the Triton. These improvements have resulted in better torque delivery as well as becoming quieter and more refined. Power is rated at 183 horses and 430 Nm of torque, while the Athlete gets a more powerful version with a twin-stage turbo. As a result, this model produces 204 horses and 470 Nm of torque.

This is all sent through a six-speed manual or automatic, depending on the variant. Two types of four-wheel drive (4WD)_ systems are offered. The GL and GLX come with the Easy Select 4WD, while the Athlete gets the Super 4WD-II with Active Yaw Control and Hill Descent Control. Additionally, the Triton Athlete is the only model with an electric power steering.

Safety is also a key aspect in the new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton as all models come with electronic stability control, Trailer Stability Assist, and three airbags. The GLX then comes with a reverse camera, but the GLS and Athlete get a 360-degree camera along with a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), namely Emergy Assist for Pedal Misapplication, Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM) with Pedestrian Detection, Blindspot Warning System (BSW) with Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Auto High Beam. Only the Athlete, however, gets side and curtain airbags.
