After being leaked on social media after being spotted on a public road last December, the 2024 Suzuki Jimny 5-Door has now officially been launched in the Philippine market. As the new, more practical version of the Jimny, here are all the details you need to know about this compact off-roader.

The 2024 Suzuki Jimny 5-door was primarily engineered and developed by Maruti Suzuki in India and is thus assembled in their country. Only the three-door model is assembled in Japan. Though sharing the same body-on-frame underpinnings, the Jimny 5-door has a lengthened wheelbase, giving it additional space for the second row. Despite that, the Jimny 5-door measures under four meters long, specifically at 3,985 mm. It’s also still narrow at 1,645 mm, so you can only fit two adults in the rear seats.

As for its design, well, it’s pretty much what you expected a five-door Jimny to be. It’s literally just a lengthened version of the standard three-door Jimny we’ve come to be familiar with. What this new body style addresses is the need for more versatility and practicality thanks to having more seating capacity. Nevertheless, for exterior features, the base GL gets halogen headlights and 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. The GLX benefits from automatic LED headlights with washers and depending on the color choice, a black contrasting roof.

Inside, the 2024 Suzuki Jimny 5-Door comes with features such as a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the GLX comes with a bigger 9-inch unit and automatic climate control. Safety features of the new Jimny 5-Door include a reverse camera and rear parking sensors, hill start assist, and dual SRS airbags (with side curtain airbags for the GLX).

Surely, the added length and thus, the increased weight would mean a more powerful engine, right? Well, it still uses the same K15B 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder as the three-door model, which produces 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. This is mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, with power sent through an AllGrip four-wheel drive (4WD) system with a low-range gearbox.
