2025 Audi Q6 e-tron Debuts With Up To 510 HP, 625 KM Range

The new 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron is not just another electric luxury SUV, as this vehicle brings plenty of firsts for the brand.

Audi grows its ever-expanding lineup of electric vehicles (EV) with the addition of the new Q6 e-tron. At face value, it may look like yet another electric crossover, but the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron actually brings a lot of firsts for the brand. Moving forward, the Q6 e-tron will set the tone for future electric Audis in terms of battery technology, faster charging speeds, as well as driving dynamics.

The most interesting stuff about the 2024 Audi Q6 e-tron isn’t actually what you see at face value, but what lies underneath the vehicle and how it will set the tone for future electric Audis. It begins with the PPE platform or Premium Platform Electric, which was developed together with Porsche. As part of the Volkswagen Group, the PPE platform will be utilized by numerous midsize and larger-sized EVs, and yes, this is a dedicated EV platform that won’t be used in an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.

This also means it shares a lot in common with the new Porsche Macan EV, but as with the two Volkswagen Group brands, Audi and Porsche have always done a good job in separating their models. But one of the things that will be common for them is the battery. The 800-volt architecture of the 100 kWh (94.9 kWh usable) lithium-ion battery can accept up to 270 kW of DC fast charging. However, when using just a 400-volt charger, the system splits the 800-volt battery into two 400-volt batteries that charge in parallel. AC charging, however, maxes out at 11 kW, which is half of the 22 kW that a more affordable Hyundai Ioniq 5 can accept.

The 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron will initially be offered with dual-motor Quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard. For the standard Q6 e-tron, this means a total output of 382 horsepower, which is enough for a 0-100 kph time of 5.9 seconds. On the other hand, the performance-oriented SQ6 e-tron has 483 horsepower (510 horses with launch mode), which is good for a 0-100 kph time of just 4.2 seconds with launch mode activated. Later down the line, single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) versions will also be offered.

As for range, the two initial AWD variants will come with the same 94.9 kWh usable lithium-ion battery, which, in the standard Q6 e-tron is good enough for 625 kilometers. The performance-oriented SQ6 e-tron, on the other hand, can travel up to 598 kilometers.

From an aesthetics standpoint, the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron offers a middle ground between outright sportiness and elegance. Well, the Q6 e-tron is the sportiest of Audi’s electric crossover range, and that’s showcased through the enclosed Singleframe grille, the first-ever implementation of split LED headlights, as well as a steeply-raked windshield to compliment the chunkier sides. The SQ6 e-tron does look sportier, especially with its larger wheels, faux aluminum skid plates, and more aggressive bumpers.

Where Audi is showcasing its technological tour-de-force is with the Q6 e-tron’s high-tech lighting units. The LED daytime running lights are configurable, with up to eight different daytime running light patterns. At the back, the optional digital OLED taillights not only offer customizable lighting patterns but also provide visual warnings if the vehicle behind is too close or approaching the Q6 e-tron’s rear end at too fast of a speed. Finally, those OLED taillights can even flash warning signs if, let’s say, a passenger is about to disembark from the Q6 e-tron.

Moving inside the new 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron, the design will likewise be largely familiar. What will be noticeable immediately is the two large screens that run a new version of Audi’s MMI infotainment system. That’s because the new operating system is now based on Google’s Android Automotive OS. Not Android Auto (which it also comes with), but the operating system itself is called Android Automotive. The screens are composed of an 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.5-inch main infotainment screen. A 10.9-inch front passenger display that the driver can’t see can be fitted to the interior, while other optional extras include an ambient LED light interaction bar and a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
