2025 Lamborghini Temerario Is A V8 Hybrid Huracan Successor

The 2025 Lamborghini Temerario kisses the V10 good bye with its V8 plug-in hybrid drivetrain that offers up to 907 horses.

The V10 is dead, and you have emissions regulations to blame for it. The Huracan also bows out in favor of the new 2025 Lamborghini Temerario, the successor to the famed V10 supercar from Sant’Agata, Bolognese. The Temerario is faster and more powerful than ever whilst having lower emissions than the Huracan it succeeds.

That’s thanks to a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that’s completely new from the ground up. Codenamed L411, this isn’t based on any Volkswagen Group V8, which has a cross-plane crank. Instead, this engine has a flat-plane crank, which means it emits a Ferrari-like V8 soundtrack. Also, despite having two turbos, this engine has a redline of up to 10,000 rpm.

That’s a high redline, even by naturally-aspirated engine standards, and to make sure that you can rev it reliably to five-digit territory again and again, the engine gets a motorsport-grade cast aluminum crankcase, titanium conrods, and valve followers with a Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating. As a result, this engine is actually able to sustain a redline of 11,000 rpm.

That engine alone makes 789 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque versus 631 horses and 600 Nm from the outgoing Huracan’s V10, but two electric motors driving the front wheels bring the total output to a whopping 907 horses. A third electric motor lives in the new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, which fills in the gaps of the V8 and the turbo, to eliminate turbo lag.

A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system is being used by the Temerario, in which those electric motors are fed by a a tiny 3.8 kWh battery. This can be charged at up to 7 kW of AC power for a zero to 100 percent charge in 30 minutes, though Lamborghini has not yet revealed its pure electric range. If you want to charge it with the V8, engaging Recharge mode will reduce the engine’s power to 715 horses.

Unsurprisingly, like with most PHEVs that have been coming out lately, they have a huge contribution to a car’s weight. The Temerario is 268 kilos heavier than the Huracan, and surprisingly, also 220 kilos heavier than the 296 GTB. While the more powerful Temerario accelerates to 100 kph in just 2.7 seconds (two-tenths faster than the Huracan Evo), its braking distance increases from 31.9 in the Huracan Evo to 32 meters, so there’s no doubt that its weight still affects its performance.

Styling-wise, the 2025 Lamborghini Temerario borrows a lot of design cues from its flagship brother, the Revuelto. The Temerario’s design, however, is a bit toned down, even compared to the Huracan it’s replacing. The front end is characterized by horizontal LED headlights, while hexagon LED daytime running lights are located separately at the front bumper. In fact, you’ll spot a lot of hexagons around the Temerario, from the fuel door and the charge port door, all the way to the LED taillights, the mesh pattern of the engine bay, and even the high-mounted singular exhaust. Though it looks more tamed, the resulting design gives the Temerario a 103 percent improvement in rear downforce.

Moving inside, the interior layout is very similar to the Huracan, albeit with a likewise more conservative dash design. The lines and creases are more simple, and once again, there are numerous hexagonal design flourishes around the cabin. There are three available screens, with the third passenger screen being an optional extra. Lastly, in typical Lamborghini fashion, the starter button is covered by a fighter jet-style flap.

Some of the other interior features that the Temerario offers include a Lamborghini Vision Unit, which is a triple-camera system that records your drives, and this works in conjunction with the vehicle’s telemetry recorder with over 150 racetracks pre-programmed into the system. You can even hook this up to your Apple Watch to also record your heart rate as you drive around a race track. Finally, you can also opt for a Sonos Faber surround sound system.

Like the Huracan it replaces, expect hardcore versions of the Temerario to come soon, but right now, you can opt for the Alleggerita package, which means lightweight in English. This package adds a carbon fiber rear deck panel, undertray, and body kit, as well as a black roof and a contrasting stripe surrounding the windows and the aforementioned body kit. Despite the name, you only save a measly 12.7 kilos from its overall weight, though it improves its already improved rear downforce by 55 percent.

If you’re really that determined to save even more weight from the Temerario, a Lightweight Pack introduces more weight-saving measures by swapping the leather-clad door panels for carbon fiber ones, along with slimmer rear windows, and polycarbonate side panels. Select the optional carbon rear diffuser, carbon fiber wheels, titanium exhaust, and the aforementioned Allegerita package, the total weight reduction can amount to more than 25 kilograms.

The 2025 Lamborghini Temerario will be sold in North America and Europe first before being offered to the rest of the world. As for its Philippine arrival, you have PGA Cars to ask if you’re interested in the hybrid successor to the Huracan.
