Toyota Motor Philippines is fulfilling its promise to officially introduce five new vehicles at the upcoming 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (2026 PIMS). Though the country’s leading automaker has sent us a teaser of what it will preview during the 2026 PIMS from June 4 to 7, the remaining three vehicles have already been announced earlier this year anyway.
With the Urban Cruiser EV and all-new RAV4 already in our market, the three remaining vehicles are the next-generation Hilux, the Land Cruiser FJ, and the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid.
1. Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid
The Toyota Land Cruiser got electrified in the middle of 2025, and as one of the largest markets for the popular full-size SUV, it was inevitable that it would one day arrive in the Philippines. The Land Cruiser Hybrid shares the same powertrain as the Lexus LX 700h, which is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor mounted together with the 10-speed automatic. This setup makes the Land Cruiser a parallel hybrid system. Combined, the system produces 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. What it also inherits from the Lexus LX is its ability to still run in the event that the electrical components of the hybrid system get damaged.
2. Land Cruiser FJ
Unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is an entry into the small off-roader SUV segment. Measuring 4,575 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, and 1,960 mm tall, with a wheelbase that measures 2,580 mm, it is incrementally larger than a Corolla Cross, but it has a slightly shorter wheelbase and a much taller height.
The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is riding on the IMV platform that’s shared with the Hilux and Fortuner. Therefore, it is also using a familiar engine that’s already compatible with this body-on-frame chassis—a 2.7-liter 2TR-FE four-cylinder that produces 161 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque. This drives all four wheels via a six-speed automatic.
The IMV platform wasn’t just shortened, but it also got stronger and more rigid through additional chassis bracing. Together with the short 2,580 mm wheelbase allowing for excellent breakover angles, along with short front and rear overhangs for excellent approach and departure angles, the Land Cruiser FJ has the off-road maneuverability that’s fit for a Land Cruiser model.
3. Hilux
Finally, as the outright best-selling pickup in the Philippines, the new generation Toyota Hilux couldn’t come soon enough. Though it gets a comprehensive redesign, the IMV platform is carried over, albeit with heavy reengineering for both improved refinement and off-road capability.
Toyota Motor Philippines has not yet revealed the specs of the Hilux, but globally, this pickup now offers a diverse range of powertrains. There’s the familiar 2.8-liter turbo diesel in both standard and 48-volt mild hybrid versions, which both produce 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. A familiar 2.7-liter gasoline engine will be sold for markets outside Southeast Asia, so we won’t be betting on its arrival here.
What is also unknown at the moment is the first-ever electric version. With dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard, the electric Hilux produces 193 horsepower—an output that’s clearly optimized for efficiency and pulling power. With a 59.2 kWh battery, it has a WLTP-rated range of 240 kilometers. Though the range isn’t that impressive, Toyota compensates for this with “class-leading” charging times.
Now, we do know that a lot of you, our dear readers, are huge fans of these three vehicles. With that in mind, does this make the upcoming 2026 PIMS, which runs from June 4 to 7, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, worth the visit?
