Along with other key models, Nissan has officially previewed its new-generation competitor in the mid-size pickup truck segment. Making headlines is the Navarra Pro, a direct successor to the well-reknowned Navara lineage. However, this vehicle packs a different punch, thanks to its adoption of Nissan’s PHEV system.
With other notable brands contributing to the growing pickup truck segment, Nissan has picked up the pace with the all-new Navara Pro. The new model’s design language sports a boxy and daring look that seeks to conquer all sorts of terrain. The headlight design follows the front fascia’s imposing look while retaining a smooth, directional flow. On the other hand, the rear design of the car is minimalistic, putting emphasis on a functional approach to a utilitarian vehicle.
Since this is a preview, not all necessary information is disclosed, yet the Navara Pro offers a compelling set of features that may propel its proposition over competitors. For starters, this vehicle comes straight from its Nissan counterpart, the Frontier Pro. This is part of Nissan’s joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corporation, an automobile manufacturer originating in China. It is likely to retain similar features, such as Nissan’s assist systems containing 25 driver-assistance features that support the vehicular safety of occupants.
Based on this information, we may receive a hybrid 1.5-liter turbocharged engine supported by a mechanical AWD system. The turbocharged engine is supported by a large lithium-ion battery, which adds up to 135 km of range. This provides an output of 408 PS and 800 Nm of torque. The Navara Pro also provides different driving modes with the option of utilizing the electric rear locking differential – a straightforward yet capable powertrain for your grocery-getting or trail-seeking activities.
The interior reflects the modern trajectory of vehicles, evident through the Chinese-developed 10-inch instrument cluster and 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also includes an option for a panoramic sunroof to accentuate the cabin with natural light. Alongside these modern amenities is the option for Vehicle-2-Load (V2L) energy, where you can utilize the vehicle’s battery, essentially as a portable power bank with 6kW of power supply. These features extend to the exterior, sporting 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/65R18 tires.
For current consumers of Navara models, or prospective ones, this new-generation model should be a solid contender for your list. This successor is worth checking as a primary, or even a substitute, for its competitors in the market. To know more, you can visit the Nissan booth at the Philippine International Motorshow, spanning from June 4-7, which is formally held at the World Trade Center.
