Next-Generation Mitsubishi Pajero To Feature Body-On-Frame Chassis

The Mitsubishi Pajero is set to utilize a body-on-frame platform, along with the brand's S-AWC four-wheel drive (4WD) technology.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has revealed today a few technical details about the upcoming Pajero flagship SUV. The return of Mitsubishi’s flagship is highly anticipated, and its drip-feeding of information continues as the launch date draws nearer. The world debut is set this autumn, and the Japanese automaker promises that the Pajero will deliver authentic off-road capability that enables “safe, secure driving across a wide range of weather and road conditions, while also offering a refined, comfortable ride”.

The next-generation Mitsubishi Pajero adopts a highly robust and durable ladder frame, together with a suspension system engineered to deliver high road-holding performance. This combination provides exceptional off-road capability, even over rough terrain with large bumps and significant impacts. At the same time, it delivers refined on-road comfort by suppressing unwanted body movement and vibration on rough or uneven roads, helping to ease strain over long distances and ensure comfort for everyone on board.

Taking its performance to an even higher level is Mitsubishi Motors’ Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) technology, an integrated vehicle dynamics control system that optimizes handling, off-road capability and stability across diverse driving scenarios.

On the dedicated website for the all-new Pajero, Mitsubishi has also released new visual content presented under the title “The Pajero is ready to write its next chapter.” This highlights the suspension system that supports the Pajero’s all-around driving performance.

Mitsubishi Motors so far has confirmed not just its body-on-frame chassis, but also a glimpse of its front fascia. The now-signature T-shaped LED headlights are part of its identity, while the dashboard-mounted multi-information gauge pod that became the nameplate’s defining feature will be reinterpreted in a digital format.
