Xpeng Philippines launched with a bang at its brand launch at SM Mall of Asia Arena, with over 3,000 attendees, and one of its initial models is the L03 electric vehicle (EV), which will soon be offered as a range-extender electric vehicle (REEV). The 2027 Xpeng L03 is a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, and it comes with an aggressive starting price.
But first, let’s talk about its design. The L03 is part of the brand’s Mona lineup in China, which is its range of EVs that cater to a more mainstream segment versus the X9’s luxury orientation. As part of the Mona lineup, the L03 has T-shaped LED headlights, and this is complemented by an enclosed front end that features minimal vents.
At the sides, the L03 has sleek curves and minimal lines, and 18-inch wheels are fitted on all but the range-topping Long Range Ultra, which rides on 20-inch wheels. The L03 also features conventional mechanical door handles with frameless doors, along with a plethora of cameras for its suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Speaking of which, only the Long Range Ultra will get the Xpeng NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) advanced semi-autonomous driving feature in a future over-the-air update.
As you move towards the rear, the L03 features full-width LED taillights that are accentuated by faux air vents on each side. The Xpeng wordmark is written just below it, and all variants come with a powered tailgate. Worth noting is the fact that the L03 is designed by JuanMa López, the former designer of Ferrari, who also created the LaFerrari hypercar.
Inside, the 2027 Xpeng L03 has a very premium dash, featuring generous padded soft-touch materials and leatherette surfaces. As standard, the 256-color ambient lighting accentuates the dashboard, and together with its dual digital screens, is powered by the brand’s in-house XOS 6.0 operating system. It natively supports Google Maps, along with full telematics features such as remote parking, via the Xpeng app. There’s also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while only the Long Range Ultra gets the Turing AI chip that enables AI-based features.
Leatherette upholstery is also standard on all variants, along with power-adjustable front seats with heating and cooling, though massaging front seats are only for the Long Range Ultra. There’s also a wireless charging pad, a standard 9-speaker sound system, or an upgraded 18-speaker surround sound system in the Long Range Ultra.
Three powertrain options are available for the 2027 Xpeng L03, all of which are single-motor with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout. The Standard Range model gets an electric motor that produces 219 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, which is good for a 7.5-second 0-100 kph time. Its 58.2 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery is good enough for a 445-kilometer WLTP-rated range.
Meanwhile, the Long Range and Long Range Ultra get a stronger electric motor with 245 horsepower (torque is the same), which knocks the 0-100 kph time down to 6.6 seconds. Its 71.1 kWh LFP battery is good for a 520-kilometer range for the Long Range, while the Long Range Ultra’s 20-inch wheels reduce its range to 480 kilometers, both under WLTP testing.
Both battery sizes have a maximum AC charge rate of 6.6 kW, which is good for 10 hours in the Standard Range or 12.2 hours in the Long Range models. Meanwhile, a high DC fast-charging output of 236 kW allows the Long Range models to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. The Standard Range model has a lower DC fast-charging output of 193 kW, though it’s still good enough for a 20-minute charge from 10 to 80 percent.
As for the REEV version, the 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder produces 84 horsepower, while its electric motor produces 239 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, which is good for a 0-100 kph time of 6.8 seconds. Its 37.2 kWh battery is good enough for a 315-kilometer WLTP-rated pure electric range, while its total driving range is 1,017 kilometers. Charging can be done at 6.6 kW AC, which takes 6.5 hours to charge to 100 percent, or through 123 kW DC fast charging, which takes 20 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent.
The 2027 Xpeng L03 is now on sale in the Philippines with the following prices:
- Standard Range: P1,548,000
- REEV: P1,598,000
- Long Range: P1,698,000
- Long Range Ultra: P2,058,000
The Xpeng L03 comes with two years of free preventive maintenance services, five years of free roadside assistance, a five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, and an eight-year warranty for the battery and electric motor. Xpeng L03 EV customers receive a 7 kW wall charger, while the REEV variant comes with a 3.5 kW portable charger.
Customers may reserve the L03 for P10,000 by sending a message to @xpengphilippines on Facebook or Instagram. Deliveries to customers are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year. Availability may vary depending on the selected model, variant, color, and dealer allocation.
Reservations may also be made through Xpeng’s dealers in Greenhills, Makati, North EDSA, and Cebu. Additional dealerships are expected to be announced as Xpeng Philippines expands its sales and service network and brings its vehicles closer to customers across the country.
