The 2027 Lexus RX was just revealed in Japan, but it is not yet a mid-cycle facelift for the five-year-old luxury crossover SUV. Although spy shots of the mid-cycle facelift already exist, it still isn’t ready for release, based on what Lexus announced a couple of days ago in Japan.
But to fully experience what’s new for 2027, you’ll have to take it for a spin. That’s because outside the minor features and paint improvements, the 2027 Lexus RX recently had its work cut out at the Nürburgring. Yes, this family-friendly luxury crossover SUV, which has already been honed at the Toyota Technical Center in Shimoyama, receives chassis tuning from The Green Hell for improved ride quality and to further refine the RX’s Lexus Driving Signature. The undulations and uneven surfaces of the track are the perfect conditions to make the RX ride and handle even better in the real world.
If you opt for the RX 500h F Sport Performance, the chassis tuning changes are even more extensive, since this represents the performance pinnacle of the lineup. The RX 500h F Sport Performance gets a recalibrated Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), while the electric power steering and Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) were also optimized to give the RX a more natural handling behavior in response to driver input–all without sacrificing the distinct Lexus ride quality.
While the chassis has been tweaked for an even sportier and more comfortable drive, the exterior receives limited changes for the 2027 model year. These are limited to a new paint called White Nova Glass Flake, while F Sport models, including the RX 500h F Sport Performance, give you the option of red brake calipers.
The interior likewise receives no aesthetic changes, except for a few technical ones that improve its refinement. One of those is the new front door glass, which now has infrared-cut functionality for improved comfort. Those who love using the Auto Brake Hold feature will probably be happy to find out that it now has a memory function that retains the setting even when the ignition is turned off. Other new features that have been made standard across the lineup include a digital rearview mirror and a built-in dashcam that records both the front and rear.
With the Philippine-market Lexus RX being sourced from Japan, it is likely that these changes will also be applied to our models. Will you wait for the 2027 Lexus RX with its Nürburgring-honed driving dynamics, or will you be even more patient in waiting for the RX’s mid-cycle facelift?
