Luxury EV Brand Luxeed Is Set To Arrive In The Philippines Next Year

Luxeed is set to enter the Philippine market sometime in 2027, and they have showcased two initial models for global markets as well.

Luxeed, which is a luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand under Chery Group, is set to begin its global expansion in 2027. One of the markets it will enter is the Philippines, which has been confirmed by Marc Zhang, Executive Vice President of Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines. Once the plans are finalized, more details about Luxeed’s entry will be revealed in due time.

But what exactly is Luxeed? If you follow the Chinese automotive industry, you have likely heard about Exeed, another Chery luxury brand. Luxeed is different from Exeed in a sense that it uses Huawei hardware and software for its vehicle’s infotainment and advanced driver-assistance suite. Luxeed is part of Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), in which brands like Seres are also part, with the establishment of Aito.

For now, what we can tell you is that its global expansion will be led by two initial models: the Luxeed Llounge (pronounced L-lounge), a luxury minivan, and the Stormax, a sporty electric crossover SUV.

The Luxeed Llounge is set to compete with the Xpeng X9, the Zeekr 009, and the Denza D9. The Luxeed Llounge is a full-size luxury minivan, and its length reflects that. Measuring at 5,359 mm long and 2,009 mm wide, it is more than 300 mm longer and more than 60 mm wider than a Toyota Alphard.

Unlike the Alphard, or any of its rivals, the Luxeed Llounge has a range-extender electric vehicle (REEV) drivetrain. The 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder ‘s sole purpose is to charge the 53.4 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery. If you go for the single electric motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant, it has a 223-kilometer WLTP-rated electric range and a 0-100 kph time of 9.3 seconds. Go for the dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) version, and the 0-100 kph time drops to 5.9 seconds, and its electric range drops to 210 kilometers.

Do note, however, that the Llounge in these photos is the export version with the upright front fascia and vertical LED headlights. The Chinese-market version has slimmer lights with a horizontal light bar. The export version also differs in that it was first designed for right-hand drive (RHD) markets from the get-go. The dash layout is also completely different, as it adapts to a more global taste. There’s more emphasis on its build quality rather than the triple-screen layout seen in the Chinese-market version (locally called the V9).

On the other hand, the Luxeed Stormax is a pure electric performance SUV. Now, you might be thinking that its design has a sense of deja vu, and your senses aren’t wrong. If it looks like a Ferrari Purosangue, well, it was designed by Werner Gruber, formerly the senior exterior designer at Ferrari, who was involved in the LaFerrari, FXX-K, and Portofino.

The Luxeed Stormax has two powertrain versions in China. The first is a single-motor RWD version with 371 horsepower, a 0-100 kph time of 5.6 seconds, and a CLTC-rated range of up to 852 kilometers. Meanwhile, the Ultra models have a dual-motor AWD layout with 586 horsepower and a 0-100 kph time of 3.8 seconds. There’s also some serious chassis hardware to match its straight-line performance. A double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension come as standard, while dual-chamber air suspension and continuously variable damping are available as options.
