LOOK: BYD Atto 2 Spotted Ahead Of Its Philippine Launch

Here's the BYD Atto 2 before you're supposed to see it. The arrival of these stocks mean that its launch is sooner rather than later.

BYD Cars Philippines isn’t resting on its laurels as it continues its rapid, successive growth, thanks to its affordable, high-tech electrified offerings. At the recent Manila International Auto Show, the Chinese electrified vehicle manufacturer showcased two upcoming new models–the Sealion 7, which has already been launched, along with the Atto 2 in pure electric vehicle (EV) form. Now, though, this is going to be our first time spotting a shipment of the 2027 BYD Atto 2 at one of their stockyards–a clear sign that its local launch is approaching soon.

The Atto 2 has been confirmed to arrive in both pure EV and DM-i plug-in hybrid forms–the latter already being previewed at the brand’s most recent BYD Tech Tour at SM City Clark. The models we’re seeing here, however, are the full EV version, based on the badges on its tailgate.

Though its launch is very near, BYD Cars Philippines has not yet revealed any specifications for its latest offering. However, based on the publicly accessible Department of Energy’s (DOE) recognized list of EVs, the Atto 2 is going to be offered in three variants–one for the Atto 2 EV and two for the Atto 2 DM-i.

Since the Atto 2 EV is what we’re seeing already, let’s begin with this model. The BYD Atto 2 EV’s exterior features include full LED exterior lighting, two-tone 16-inch wheels, and power folding mirrors. As for its interior, the Atto 2 EV gets leather upholstery, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8.8-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.8-inch rotating touch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, and a 360-degree camera system.

The 2027 BYD Atto 2 EV will get a front-wheel drive (FWD) electric motor layout that produces 177 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. Thanks to the 45.1 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) Blade battery, the Atto 2 EV has an NEDC-rated range of 380 kilometers. This version also accepts up to 7 kW in AC charging, which is good for a 7.4-hour charge from zero to 100 percent. Meanwhile, DC fast charging tops out at 65 kW, which is good for a 10 to 80 percent charge in 24 minutes.

Atto 2 DM-i

For those who prefer a plug-in hybrid, the Atto 2 DM-i gets a familiar 1.5-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor, which offers a combined output of 165 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. Thanks to the 7.9 kWh LFP Blade battery, its pure electric range is 45 kilometers. Though the total hybrid driving range is not yet available, we won’t be surprised if it can achieve more than or nearly 1,000 kilometers in a tank and a full charge.

Unlike the Atto 2 EV, the Atto 2 DM-i will come in two variants: Dynamic and Premium. The features of the Atto 2 EV and DM-i are similar. What merely sets the three different versions apart is the manual folding mirrors for the two Atto 2 DM-i versions, while the Atto 2 DM-i Premium gets bigger 17-inch wheels.

Interior features are likewise similar, but the Atto 2 DM-i Dynamic gets a smaller 10.1-inch touch screen, while the Premium gets a 12.8-inch screen. Both DM-i variants, however, don’t get the rotating function of the Atto 2 EV’s screen. Lastly, the Atto 2 DM-i models only get fabric upholstery.

On the upside, the DiPilot suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) is unique to the Atto 2 DM-i Premium, and this includes automatic emergency braking, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and automatic high beams. A 360-degree camera is also offered in the Atto 2 DM-i Premium.

With the arrival of these stocks of the BYD Atto 2, its local launch is set to happen sooner rather than later. The subcompact crossover SUV segment is certainly heating up, especially with the upcoming arrival of the Atto 2 EV and DM-i.
